There are ways to help solve that problem, and these are some of the suggestions to help release the pain that the baby maybe suffering. You can chose to do these at your own convenience.
The Early Signs
You should start to look for signs at the early stages of teething. Look for signs such as, the cheeks going red, they maybe experiencing a low fever, they start to become a bit irritable, or your nursing routine starts to change, or there are problems with the feeding. Look for gums that can be inflamed or a diaper rash that could be forming.
Things To Do Next
Start to cuddle, your toddler, and even nurse them more that what you have been doing. They will probably like this as they are also receiving more attention from you too. Pick your times wisely on when you should and shouldn’t nurse them.
Massage the babies gums with the tip of your fingers, only do so when the baby lets you. Babies will like this as they can see it helps with the discomfort. Dampen a wash cloth or towel and put them into the freezer. Then offer it to your young one for them to chew. Alternatively, you can find some other teething toys around the house, and put them either into the freezer or fridge.
Provide your baby with either some cooler drinks, and ones that are icy, this can help with the gums and soothe them. These drinks should only be given when they are old enough to have them. Supply your child with comfort foods, these could be yogurt or applesauce, these foods; apply the same rules with the drinks to food as well.
Wipe the toddlers mouth, with dampen cloth or towel, this is for when they start to drool. Doing this, prevents the child from having a rash, that can be formed during this time. Look for tablets that are made for teething, these can be homeopathic or they can be supplied in liquid form; families use this to help ease the pain of their child’s discomfort. You may also want to use a teething gel, this can help numb the pain of the tongue area or gum area. Only do this on occasion and not all the time. These can be brought over the counter, the other choice is to buy ones that are made from natural ingredients, such as olive oil.
Lastly, you can give your child acetaminophen or something else that, that will relive their pain; make sure that they are approved by your doctor or likewise your pharmacist. This should be used when your child is experiencing large amounts of pain. When their is a lot pain that is experienced by your child, see a doctor for further medical advice.
